A golden age of TV?
Well given the surfeit of A-list Hollywood types turning their attentions to the small screen these days, be it for some glossy miniseries or full on epic for Netflix, it's a heck of a lot better than watching repeat viewings of Chucklevision.
And here comes the first trailer for the next show set to render us incapable of getting up from the sofa: The Night Manager, a BBC spy series starring none other than Tom Hiddleston and Hugh Laurie.
A six part BBC adaption of John Le Carré's novel of the same name, Hiddleston stars as Jonathan Pine, an ex-British soldier working as a hotel night manager who is recruited by British Intelligence to complete an undercover mission to take out a murky international arms dealer played by Laurie. As ever with this sort of plot, the operation doesn’t run smoothly and before he knows it, between Whitehall and Washington, Pine must work out who to trust before it’s too late.
With more double crossing than an episode of Celebrity Big Brother and a raft of great British acting talent to match (Olivia Coleman and Tom Hollander also feature), it should be quite the spectacle.
As for Hiddleston, could this be an unofficial audition to become the next Bond?
We can only hope.
