Emojimovie: Express Yourself is a real film. It's really coming out in Summer 2017. It will really contain the vocal talents of T.J. Miller.
But what the heck will a film about emojis actually involve? It's a subject matter so thin on narrative potential that makes a script based on the Angry Birds game appear drowned in possible plot points.
It transpires that Miller will voice Gene the 'Meh' emoji (shown above) in the Sony Animations flick - with the comic star revealing his casting in the following reassuringly self-aware video released for #WorldEmojiDay.
Set in a world where Gene is supposed to follow the 'Meh' path of his parents, the optimistic young emoji has a glitch that causes him to have multiple expressions he can't control. So long as the film continues in this self-aware tone, we'll be :)
Emojimovie is set to arrive in cinemas in August 2017
