Square Enix are teasing Thief fans. The cheeky devils.
In years gone by (1998), Thief ruled the world of first person stealth games - a fledgling category back then. It was a dark, moody experience, with engrossing gameplay backed up by a strong story. The vastly impressive sequel, The Metal Age, built upon the success of the first. One of its most enjoyable levels was 'First City Bank and Trust', a steampunk bank heist which threw players back to the start with every failed attempt - infuriatingly relocating the guards with every play.
Square Enix have revealed that the new Thief title is to have its very own bank heist DLC mission, tipping its hood to the original. Players will race against the clock to get in, crack the vault and get out, with times shared on an overall leader board. Preorders of the game will include the mission for free - rewarding those fans keen enough to get in line early, but riling the rest of the fan base with such devious use of DLC.
Check out the trailer of the mission below.
