At the risk of sounding like Bez and Shaun Ryder, this image is twisting our melon, man.
The premise is pretty simple enough - an overheard shot of some watermelons, some of which look like queasy Pac-Men, which you’re asked to count – but the outcome is not simple at all. Due to the way the mind registers the image, whatever number you arrive at will tell you whether you happen to be left-brained or right-brained.
For those deemed left-brained, you’ll be better at solving problems, like a physics professor, whereas those on the other side are seen as more ‘creative’ and likely to excel at ‘artistic pursuits’, like - oh we don’t know - a frazzled former member of The Happy Mondays.
Part puzzle, part subliminal optical illusion, all utterly, utterly fascinating.
