We don't think there's been a more important year for the bread slicing industry than 2015.
In May, we brought you news of a new knife that managed to create a sandwich with a single stroke of its majestic double blade. We didn't think it could be buttered.
We were wrong.
YouTube inventor Colin Furze has emerged from his shed of wonder wielding a bread knife that toasts as it cuts.
The knife gains its heat from a modified microwave transformer, passing a low voltage through a series of copper pipes and a bread-slicing blade. After the blade has reached red-hot temperatures, it can toast its way through a loaf of bread, be used to singe individual slices, or even spread butter.
Faster than a conventional toaster, the 'FurzoToasto' does possess the significant risk of being left unattended while you enjoy its toasty produce, only to find it's burnt down your kitchen.
Here's hoping Furze produces a customer-friendly model in the coming year (he definitely won't).
