There are two ways of watching the following trailer for survival horror game The Evil Within: sensibly, with the lights on and a cuddly toy to hand, or properly, in a dark room, preferably in a deserted hospital.
The spawn of Shinji Mikami, creator of the horrifically successful Resident Evil series, The Evil Within is not for the faint of heart. The story sees Detective Sebastian Castellanos report to a brutal multiple homicide, only to find that the police squad who first attended the scene have met a similarly grizzly end. Castellanos himself is attacked, waking to find himself in a hellish environment filled with deeply unpleasant company. Find your friends, find out what happened and find a way out.
Should you be brave enough, The Evil Within will be released for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PC in 2014. We don't recommend it if you live in a house with creaky floorboards, or neighbour an abandoned asylum.
