Following in the footsteps of Alan Partridge and Lisa Kudrow, Ricky Gervais is launching his next series online.
The actor/writer/director/ShortList cover star announced that he's just finished editing the pilot episode of Learn English With Ricky Gervais.
It's in the early stages and Gervais hasn't yet revealed the format of the show (the clue could be in the title though) but has explained that he hopes it will have international appeal.
"We hope to have it subtitled into as many languages as possible," he wrote on his blog. "I'm thinking of making a clean version of the pilot available for download so people can put their own subtitles on it and repost it. You can do a Klingon version if you want. Interactive."
He's going to release the first one for free but hopes to get a sponsor for the rest as he states that the series will cost "quite a bit to make".
The Internet is the future. Mark our words.

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
