The bond between human and animal is well documented. For many of us, our furry friends are not simply pets – they’re part of the family.
So when Twitter users started sharing heartwarming stories of their bond with their pets, people were hooked.
It all kicked off when Sammy Nickalls asked her followers to share a “big thing your pet does that makes you positive they understand/love you on a deeper level”.
“My cat meows around mealtimes but she never does when I have a migraine,” she writes. “She cuddles and headboops me until I’m able to get up and feed her.”
And people’s responses were equally heartwarming – and a surprising number involved their pets understanding grief.
More proof, if you ever needed it, that animals truly do understand us.
