When it comes to high-end audio experiences, British hi-fi specialists Naim audio are constantly raising the bar. Channeling its 45-plus years of sonic expertise into the Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation model, the brand has created a delightfully compact wireless offering.

Following in the footsteps of the instantly recognisable Mu-so Qb that launched in 2016, its predecessor is currently our pick of the best Bluetooth speaker so we have high hopes for this one. This second gen model may look similar on the outside but it offers a “significant performance boost”, incorporating extensive hardware and software upgrades.

Packing 300 watts of power into what is a relatively compact design, the Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation features all-new speaker drivers, alongside an ‘upgraded ‘brain’’ which offers 10 times extra processing power than its predecessor.

Building upon the design of its bigger brother, the Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation’s minimalist aesthetic incorporates an illuminated volume dial for easy navigation and there’s a proximity sensor which activates 15 touch sensitive buttons as your hand approaches.

And if touch screen technology isn’t your cuppa, there’s always the option of utilising the Naim app - available on iOS and Android - allowing for additional browsing control direct from your device.

Looks-wise, this thing is lovely. Naim have gone for a lustrous burnished grey aluminium chassis and the model can be customised, with optional replacement grilles in a range of colours including Olive, Terracotta or Peacock.

This latest model features Naim’s unique music-streaming platform, developed by 25 engineers over a 3 year period. In simple terms? It allows users to browse their own digital music library, internet radio stations, or stream from Spotify or Tidal.

The Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation will be available from a wide range of retailers from 2nd September at a suggested retail price of £749.
