Normally, parents have to force their kids not to play Grand Theft Auto. But one Japanese man has seemingly be doing the opposite.
Maasa Kawabata, a 28-year-old man from Kyoto, has been arrested after apparently forcing an elementary school kid to play GTA IV. The child in question was his wife's nine-year-old son from a previous marriage; Kawabata allegedly made him play for around three weeks, for between two and three hours a day when his mother was out.
In April last year, the boy complained of headaches, stomach pain and nausea, whereupon his mother moved them away from her husband. In May, a doctor diagnosed the boy as suffering from dysautonomia - caused by stress from playing the game. The incident was then reported in June, with the suspect being arrested this week.
A trial is expected later this year.
