"An immersive and visceral cinematic experience" reads the blurb for the first trailer for DiCaprio's new flick, The Revenant.
'Sure it is', we thought, issuing a sceptical snort. Then we watched it.
Directed and co-written by Alejandro González Iñárritu (he picked up a much-deserved Oscar for Birdman), The Revenant follows the 'true' story of Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) - a frontiersman (an early explorer in the wilderness of North America) in the 1820s who set off seeking vengeance against John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) and his team who left him for dead after a bear mauling.
Starring a batch of British talent, including Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter, we've a feeling that The Revenant is the sort of brutal journey epic that's going to leave you feeling like a good sit down.
The Revenant arrives in cinemas on 16 January 2016

As Content Director of Shortlist, Marc likes nothing more than to compile endless lists of an evening by candlelight. He started out life as a movie writer for numerous (now defunct) magazines and soon found himself online - editing a gaggle of gadget sites, including TechRadar, Digital Camera World and Tom's Guide UK. At Shortlist you'll find him mostly writing about movies and tech, so no change there then.
