Human pinball is here

Don’t get us wrong, we love games consoles: Xboxes, Wii’s, PS3s… like a herd of 30-something divorcees backstage at a Take That gig we’re all over those bad boys.

However, sometimes we have a different itch that needs scratching. Sometimes we need some old school retro love. That’s when we seek solace in the time machine at the back of our wardrobe and head to an early Sixties Milk Bar in Soho, where we listen to Billy Fury records all night and play pinball. Honestly, it’s true.

That’s why we’re smitten with this human pinball machine. The work of the obviously playful Belgian company Modular Lighting Instruments, this human scale installation was unveiled at a trade fair in Belgium last month.

Unfortunately, rather than being an actual pinball machine, it’s just a clever conceit designed for the company to show off their rather fancy new LED ceiling lights. Either way, we love it and suggest that someone with more gumption than us does construct a massive pinball machine for us humans to get flung about in.
