New crews. New villains. New heroes. New worlds.
That's what the teaser trailer for CBS' new series of Star Trek promises us - that, and some wooshy CGI and a nostalgia-inducing sound track.
There's no word on who'll be in that crew (the ship kind, not the street kind), nor whether the new series will build on previous television series or set out on a new mission. This is all CBS has said of the series previously:
THE BRAND-NEW STAR TREK WILL INTRODUCE NEW CHARACTERS SEEKING IMAGINATIVE NEW WORLDS AND NEW CIVILIZATIONS, WHILE EXPLORING THE DRAMATIC CONTEMPORARY THEMES THAT HAVE BEEN A SIGNATURE OF THE FRANCHISE SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 1966.
So long as it's better than the short lived Enterprise series, we'll be happy. We'll find out in January 2017.
