"SURPRISE!", is probably what Activision and Sledgehammer Games were hoping to shout this Sunday.
Owing to a veritable fountain of leaks, the party poppers have been packed away and the drinks are back on ice (though the countdown clock is still ticking on the official site).
However, this botched reveal does nothing to dull the impact of the new trailer for the next instalment of the unhealthily popular Call of Duty series: Advanced Warfare.
Hoverbikes, exoskeleton suits, high-jumping jetpacks and wall climbing - the action looks to take the game's new subtitle and run a 2-minute-mile with it. Reports suggest that the game will have a beefier single player story than predecessor Ghosts - following a solider of fortune private army led by a head consultant played by Kevin Spacey.
Watch the trailer, get excited about how realistic Spacey's face is, and pencil 4 November as a release date.
