No, Area 51 isn't in need of beefing up its security. Despite its other-worldly design, this one-of-a-kind ETV (Extra Terrestrial Vehicle) didn't come from the stars, but the comparatively low-key workshop of an avid custom car maker. And it's for sale.
The creation of custom car builder Mike Vetter, the ETV is a thing of sci-fi fantasy: scissor doors, exotic lines, an interior crafted from leather, suede and aluminium, with a great lump of 2 litre supercharged Chevy engine hidden under the hood, Vetter claims that this turns more heads than the average Ferrari - and we can well believe him.
There are some novel design touches that make the ETV a more practical vehicle than it first appears. Front and rear facing cameras help with parking, while adjustable air suspension ensures you'll make it over any angled inclines or speed bumps. Having clocked some 32,000 miles in it, Vetter assures prospective bidders that it doesn't shake or rattle like many hand-made custom cars (but then, he would).
Currently on eBay with an asking price of $89,000 (£54,343), it's a great deal cheaper than your average Italian supercar, and a great deal more exotic. Good luck getting it insured.
