If you're a normal, rational individual, death probably isn't something you're not looking forward to.
But then fans of Dark Souls aren't normal, rational people. They're white-knuckled, obsessive gamers, dedicated to searching every ancient ruin and darkened path. Death isn't something they fear - it's a lesson in another failed strategy for getting round that vast terror in their path.
As this latest (slightly cheesy) trailer for the second instalment of Dark Souls attests, this death-heavy game looks test your will to keep going. But by golly it would be a nice change if we didn't die quite so frequently this time around.
Dark Souls II arrives on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on 14 March
