And no, he still hasn't won his girlfriend back

Creepy Bristol piano guy gets punched in the head, isn't playing piano anymore

Let’s be clear here, no one likes to see a man get punched in the head.

Similarly, no one likes to see a man play the piano non-stop out of an apparent sense of entitlement after being dumped by his girlfriend of four months.

Well, worlds have collided like a fist to the back of a head this week, with ‘creepy’ piano man Luke Howard ending his quest to win back his former partner.

Howard claims he was punched in the head while playing the piano in the centre of Bristol. He has now stopped playing, though not for that reason, apparently.

“I stopped playing yesterday because I realised that what I had wanted to do had spectacularly failed,” Howard told The i.

“The social media reaction turned it very quickly into something that would cause the one person I didn’t want to hurt embarrassment and pain. That was the last thing in the world I had wanted to happen, so I left.”

While some sympathised with his behaviour, plenty considered it creepy and inappropriate, and it seems Howard himself has appreciated it was not the way to go about things.

“I am just a guy who was trying, albeit naively, to show someone how much he loved them. And I am very sorry that has offended so many people,” the 34-year-old added.

But that’s not how others saw it, with Sian Norris arguing for The Pool:Howard’s behaviour is not romantic. It’s entitled – and it’s symptomatic of a wider problem of men’s harassment of their exes”.

It would be no great surprise if the response to this whole thing leads to fewer men trying the same in future. Thank god.
