The middle finger. The most offensive single digit of all, raised by enraged rail commuters and UKIP members alike.

Well it turns out Hollywood characters are also quite fond of ‘flipping the bird’, comically aiming them at buddies, sticking it to ‘the man’ or quite simply doing both (See: Barry from High Fidelity) to bring us a piece of cinematic gold.

And in case your mind has gone blank, this latest effort from Supercut Videos reminds us of the best: Maverick being a maverick upside down in a fighter jet, Wolverine getting his point across and Peter Quill’s windup box are just a few of the inventive ways we’ve seen the naughty gesture recorded on film, be it in anger or mirth.
