Got a full shelf of Schwartz seasoning in your kitchen? Good man. Only cracked into the pot of basil? Us too.

In order to expand your (and our) cooking repertoire, we had planned to write a long form exploration of which spice best compliment the tastes and textures of various dishes, tapping into the complex world of molecular gastronomy in order to unlock all manor of flavour sensations. But then we found this tidy little infographic from Cook Smarts and thought better of it. 

The flavour profiles of 17 seasonings have been simplified, giving at-a-glance information on which produce and protein sources they compliment best, in addition to which meals they should be used in and what they pair well with.

All of which means you might finally be able to get rid of that turmeric that's been knocking about your fridge since 2003.
