We've all had bad ideas while under the influence. But we can pretty much guarantee that nothing you've done while drunk will quite match this.
New Orleans resident Thomas Robert Harter was pulled over by police halfway across the Causeway Bridge over Lake Pontchartrain on Sunday (pictured above). His driving was causing some suspicion so the officers were going to give him a sobriety test.
Before he was even asked to do so, Harter got out of the car and started waving his hands. The officer asked for his registration and Harter came back with some paper and a pile of CDs, while swaying and smelling of booze. Oh and he was wearing a St Patrick's Day necklace. Just saying.
After being asked to perform the standard sobriety tests, Harter bolted and dropped 20 feet into the lake. He was eventually fished out and found to be a fugitive on outstanding warrants for a hit-and-run and reckless driving.
We have a feeling that no lessons were learnt here.
