Jurassic World

Because on the slim chance you've been living under a fossilised rock for the past year, you’ll know Universal's legendary dino-franchise has a name, a new cast,  spearheaded by hero-of-the-moment Chris Pratt, and a brand spanking new logo.

Set 22 years after the first film, we're taken into a new and more secure park on Isla Nublar, where tourists can get as close to velociraptors and they wish thanks to state-of-the-art pods allowing them to roam the artificial habitats.

Yep, the technology has come on somewhat since Samuel L Jackson’s clunky dial-up operation back in the day. And therein lies the problem. With the younger generation now glued to smartphones and dinosaurs now extinct in the news agenda (a hulking great T-Rex did once tear up half of San Diego), Jurassic World needs to up its PR game, meaning it isn't long before they're designed a new, even more ferocious beast.

And everyone has a good time, park numbers go up, and they all live happily ever after. No, we're lying, of course, because naturally the hybrid dino goes rogue, chaos ensues and suddenly the main characters are flung into a battle for survival where they're no longer at the top of the food chain.

Big effects and big expectations, could this be the sort of game-changing mega blockbuster that might one day elicit a catchphrase from Norfolk’s finest broadcaster? We can only hope.

Jurassic World lands in cinemas on 12 June, 2015
