This guy in a gorilla suit still hasn’t finished his London Marathon ‘run’

Have you had a bit of a rough morning? Miss your train into work? Forget your umbrella and get caught in the rain? Trip over in the middle of the street with people watching? At least you’re not stuck in a gorilla suit, three days into your attempts to complete the London Marathon route.

‘Mr Gorilla’ was embarking on day three of his crawl towards the finish line on Tuesday morning, and as we approach 48 hours since the majority of the field crossed the finish line, he is still going strong.

At the time of writing he has raised more than £1,300 for the Gorilla Organisation, which helps support endangered gorillas.

When given a chance to reveal his motivation on his fundraising page, he went with the old classic “it hasn’t been done yet”, which we’re pretty sure also acted as the inspiration for feats as daring as juggling knives, fighting bears and putting lasagna in a supermarket sandwich.

Based on Mr Gorilla’s current pace, he’ll almost certainly be done by the end of April, which feels like an achievement in itself. But he’s got one record in his sights – that of the slowest-ever London Marathon time.

Back in 2002, Lloyd Scott set the record when he completed the course in five days, eight hours, 29 minutes and 48 seconds while wearing a deep sea diving suit. And he managed to finish the race in an even slower time in 2006, when he dressed as St George and pulled a 200lb dragon behind him for the length of the course. Hey, someone’s got to do it.

Anyway, we assume Mr Gorilla’s got this playing on repeat on his headphones:
