The ShortListen: Matoma & Becky Hill (no. 338)

Who? Matoma & Becky Hill

What’s the story? There's no doubt that tropical house is teetering on the verge of collapse - there are only so many steel drums, bouncing rhythms and DJ Snake-style synth lead lines that the public will tolerate before they move on to the next style, but this track is a bit of a gem. Chiefly responsible for that is Becky Hill - who you should remember for the brilliant Losing a couple of years ago - who provides a vocal tour de force, injecting some proper emotion into the track. If Adele ever goes down the tropical house route, we imagine it'd sound a little like this.

For fans of: Major Lazer, Kygo

In three words: Emotional tropical house
