Oasis reportedly booking support bands for 2017 reunion tour

Oasis 2

Will they, won’t they, on again, off again… honestly the way these Oasis boys are carrying on, they’re worse than Ross and Rachel.

But a report from Australian music website Noise11 suggests that fans could soon be cracking opening the champagne (supernova) as Oasis are apparently on the hunt for a support band – meaning the much-anticipated reunion could finally be on for 2017.

The report states that “one UK rock band from the '90s with a very close connection to Liam Gallagher may have been tapped as the opening act for some of the shows so fans could be in for the ‘ride’ of their life”.

The implication, of course, is that Oxford band Ride could play support. Ride guitarist Andy Bell with both Oasis and Beady Eye, hence the not-too-subtle clue about having Liam and Noel Gallagher last played together in 2009, before Noel quit. The much publicized aggro between the two has been in the news again lately with the recent release of the documentary Supersonic.

Liam, always the mouthier of the two, threw a few barbs Noel’s way before the premiere of the movie, saying that his estranged brother was probably in one his “really big houses, probably eating tofu while having a fucking face peel,” days after tweeting that Noel was a the “Ronnie Corbett of rock n roll”.

Despite that, Liam has always maintained he’s ready to roll with it when the reunion eventually happens.

“If it happens tomorrow, I’m ready, my bags are packed,” he also said at the premiere. “I’m fucking ready full stop.”

Though there are no other details on the potential reunion, if the reports are true, it sounds like a truce has been called between the brothers. Tthe Britpop legends could indeed be mad for it once again.
