Having the gall to compare digital photography to filmic photography is akin to comparing vinyl to MP3, Atari to Xbox One, or Frank Sinatra to Psy.

While each undoubtedly brilliant in their own right, the formats are just, well, different. And if you weren’t doubly sure that vintage is much cooler, you can thank this infographic from Colombian graphic designer Carlos Ramos for reaffirming that viewpoint.

Spanning 150 years, Ramos’s fetching illustration takes in the most sought after photographic devices between 1835 to 1981, highlighting just how far we’ve come since first needing subjects to stand still for the best part of a day to know where we now no longer need film and can snap megapixels in milliseconds.

We don’t know about you, but we’re off to buy a camera the size of our head.
