Django Redesigned winner announced

After making over £250 million at the worldwide box office and winning two Oscars, it seemed as if things couldn't get any better for Quentin Tarantino's bloodthirsty western Django Unchained.

But thanks to your collective design skills, the good news didn't end there.

Back in April, we asked you to impress us with your alternative artwork for the Blu-ray release of Django Unchained. And impress us, you did.

Our Django Redesigned competition, which attracted the attention of lead star Jamie Foxx, has now come to an end and we've picked one lucky winner. Where's that drum roll at?

After much deliberation, we chose the work of 26-year-old Londoner Samuel Rogers, aka Samuel Esquire, who created the masterful poster you can see directly below:

"The moment Django first sheds his shackles is pinnacle in the film, and I find the shot of Schultz first seeing his scars very powerful," Samuel told us. "So I knew I wanted to use this very early and somewhat overlooked moment.

"A lot of my work has a sort of visual metaphor or pun and I try to create a subtext to my illustrations, sometimes subverting the initial visuals. I wanted to emphasise his scars as a pretext to it being a film about revenge, and ultimately Django being empowered by his scars."

He'll be receiving a £1000 Sony Home Entertainment system and his design will also be printed onto a run of limited edition t-shirts.
