Worst film to ever go to jail for

Man gets one year for leaking Wolverine

Think back to Spring 2009 and Fox were rather worried about the release of their big-budget adventure X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

No, not because it was being ripped apart by critics but because a 'workprint' of the film had leaked a month before its release. Within minutes, it was everywhere online and Fox had a ready-made excuse for the disappointing box office performance.

Now, two years later, justice is being served(ish). Gilberto Sanchez, the New Yorker who was behind the whole debacle, has been sentenced to one year in federal prison, as well as a whole load of computer restrictions being imposed upon him. Such as, stop illegally sharing films, we imagine.

Apparently he purchased the workprint from a street vendor in the Bronx. The Justice Department are hoping that his sentence will set an example for all would-be pirates.

Sadly, he hasn't been made to publicly apologise for aiding thousands of people to watch a terrible movie.
