Are you dancing, 'cause we're asking

Pop culture dance posters
02 February 2012

We love dancing and we don’t mind who knows it. Many wise people – Nietzsche, Beckett, Madonna among them – have said some very profound things about how important throwing shapes to music is.

Our favourite, however, is this pearl from perhaps the sagest creature ever to walk on this mortal coil: “Never trust spiritual leader who cannot dance.” That’s Mr Miyagi that is. He liked to dance. Proper Balearic veteran.

Anyway, dancing. It rocks. And so do these posters dedicated to those films and TV shows that value cutting some rug. Breaking down the iconic dances from Napoleon Dynamite, Pulp Fiction, Little Miss Sunshine and lots more besides (but, funnily enough, no Footloose), they’re not only aesthetically arresting, but super informative too.

Created by Brazilian designer and illustrator (and, dare we say, dancer) Niege Borges, we have vowed to learn each dance by next week. Repeat after us: Only when I’m dancing can I feel this free. At night I lock the door so no-one else can see…
