Comparing the Paris floods to the Great Flood of 1910

Yesterday, the French government were forced to release of tens of millions of euros to help out people who lost all of their belongings in this week’s Paris floods.

The worst flood to hit Paris in three decades, it caused the River Seine to burst its banks and forced the Orsay and Louvre museums to shut up shop in a race to save the priceless art within their walls.

The Seine peaked on Saturday at 6.10 metres (20 feet) – just two metres below the record high set by the Great Flood of Paris in 1910, when the cost of damages climbed to over £1.3 billion.

To showcase just how bad it was, French website Golem13 have decided to place pictures of the 1910 disaster upon snaps of last week's flood ...
