About A Boy Heading to TV

about a boy pic.jpg

It seems like not a day goes past without the announcement of another TV show based on a movie going into development but we have a feeling this one just might work.

The 2002 comedy About A Boy, based on Nick Hornby's novel, told the story of a selfish bachelor, played by Hugh Grant, begin a non-weird friendship with an awkward kid. It was a hit, grossing $130m from a $30m budget.

US network NBC have ordered a pilot of a show using the same name, but with a slightly different set-up. This time, the lead character will live next door to the bowl-haired kid and his "kooky" single mother. Hilarity will definitely ensue.

It's coming from Jason Katims, best known for being involved in Friday Night Lights. It's not the first time someone has tried to make a stab at moving the story to the small screen. In 2003, an attempt by Fox with Patrick Dempsey in the lead failed to make it past pilot stage.

Anyone you can see in the roles?
