Exclusive: Watch the Brand New Coheed & Cambria Video

coheedpic1.jpg

Not many bands out there would be ploughing brave new artistic territory by not making a concept record but then Coheed and Cambria are not like many bands.

The much-loved and critically-acclaimed New York-based four piece have built a committed fanbase over the course of their seven studio albums so far, which all fit thematically into The Amory Wars - a sci-fi saga depicting the story of Coheed and Cambria Kilgannon.

However, for their upcoming album The Color Before The Sun, to be released 16 October, they're making their first departure from this, with frontman Claudio Sanchez tackling personal themes as varied as the anxiety of fatherhood, the feeling of losing a home and reflections on the self.

The first track to be revealed is You Got Spirit, Kid - and we're delighted to be premiering the fantastic video for it, on ShortList.com. It's a bright, breezy, technicolor, crunchy song and it's now got a visual to match.

The clip, which was directed by DJay Brawner (Refused, Grouplove), follows the band as they take down a group of school bullies through a series of pranks, with the band commenting: "The You Got Spirit, Kid video is our attempt to pay tribute to those great eighties films, the films that showcased the spirit of youth and camaraderie, like Goonies and Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Of course, our middle aged asses playing teenager is pretty funny too."

Check it out below.
