The worst moments of super hero movies

Whether it's the wrath of fanboys or the adoration of newly converted audiences, comic book movies never fail to bring emotions to the boil.

While recent efforts of Guardians of the Galaxy and The Avengers have managed to navigate that tricky path to box office infamy, their success is owed in part to learning from the many mistakes of older comic book adaptations.

It might seem obvious now, but studios apparently had to figure out if audiences would lap up 'putting-on-the-costume' montages, and take a gamble on superhero dance scenes. "They'll love a Mr Fantastic disco scene, right guys? Right?"

So by all means, heap scorn upon the following collection of cringe-worthy comic book film moments, compiled by io9 - but be grateful that their sacrifice means we never have to see their like again.
