First Trailer For Final Studio Ghibli Film 'When Marnie Was There'

ghibli1.jpg

Q: Who makes the best looking films in the world?

No, not Baz Luhrmann, keep guessing. Sure Wes Anderson has style, but it's not him either. The correct answer is Japan's Studio Ghibli, and we'll see you outside in the car park in five minutes if you think any different.

Not for a fight - we've just got a full collection of their work in the boot of our car. You should borrow it.

Released in Japan last year, the studio's latest title When Marnie Was There has received a full English dub, employing the vocal talents of Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) and Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men). Significantly for fans of their delectable animated style, it looks set to be the studio's last project of its kind.

Shortly after the Japanese release, Ghibli's long-serving producer Toshio Suzuki stated that the group was set to change the way it made animation. "We wanted to make a dream company", Suzuki told Variety. "We thought we would make what suited us and not make what didn’t suit us. We were able to realize (that dream) to some extent and we’re very happy about that. But now we’re at a point where we’ve got to think about what we’ll do next."

So, with that in mind, drink in every glorious second of the following trailer. It could be the last of its kind.

When Marnie Was There is slated for a 2015 UK release date
