Is Cohen going after Trump for his next comedy movie?
It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything from Ali G comedian Sacha Baron Cohen - the last time he was on the big screen was in 2016’s Grimsby and Alice Through The Looking Glass. So what’s he been up to? Well, he’s done a bit of TV work, with an appearance in The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling and the upcoming main role in the Netflix show Spy, but what about a big old comedy project? When’s he gonna make us laugh again?
Thankfully, it seems we now know, as he posted the following cryptic video on Twitter:
So what’s that all about? Details are unclear, but Cohen and Trump have history - he first interviewed The Orange One when he was simply a meglomaniac billionaire for Da Ali G Show. The hilarious interview involves Cohen mercilessly ripping the man, although Trump has since said that he recognised it was a “scam” and “immediately walked out”. However, Cohen revealed on The Late Late Show in 2016 that Trump stayed for a good seven minutes, which was a relatively long time for an interviewee to stick around on the show.
It remains a mystery as to the exact nature of the project, but we can trust that it’ll be funny like (mostly) everything Cohen has ever put his hand to (*cough* The Dictator *cough*). More as we hear it.
And while we’ve got you, what better excuse than to watch the wonderful Ali G X Trump video again:
