Depending on which side of the furry fence you’re on, beards are either: A) The ultimate mark of manliness, or, B) The cornflake-filtering preserve of annoying hipsters.

In the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter either way as beards are still big business. Despite the ongoing claims of ‘peak beard’ and other nonsense terms, there are more beards popping up left, right and centre than ever before.

In fact, some guys are so desperate for a bristly mug that they’re paying out some serious cash for the facial pleasure.

Yup, that’s right: Beard transplants are now a thing.

As reported by the New York Times, fellas are flocking to get some extra growth and it’s not all about hipster vanity (although it probably is), one baby-faced transplantee who works as a paramedic said:

“[People] would look at me and be like, ‘O.K., is this 16-year old really going to take care of me?

“It was hard for people to trust me because I had that baby face.”

The treatment which could cost anywhere between $4,000 and $22,000 has seen a huge increase in attention on the ‘hair restoration’ market, with one medical profession claiming he’s gone from performing five beard transplants a year, to three a week.
