The Cinematic Evolution Of Batman

“I’m Batman.”

Not much written down, of course, but gruffly delivered and these two words might just be enough to spark wild debate as to the most complete on-screen portrayal of Gotham’s finest. Clue: it’s not Val Kilmer or George Clooney.

Regardless of who you favour - though Micheal Keaton did recently tell us, “I’m Batman – I’m very secure in that”, on the off chance that swings you - it’s nonetheless important to remember how far the character has come since first leaving the page for the screen.

Additionally, not all of his incarnations will be as naff as you remember, including Joel Schumacher’s big screen efforts which each had their own moments of redemption, albeit rare.

For proof of that, this superbly edited fan video from Jacob T Swinne charts the evolution of our favourite orphaned billionaire playboy vigilante on both the big screen and small one.

Just promise not to laugh when the dramatic music overlays with Adam West’s camp crusader.
