Tom Cruise Tipped For Highlander Reboot

High.jpg
“Who wants to live forever”, once warbled Freddie Mercury on the soundtrack to 1986's Highlander, all but prediciting that Tom Cruise would unlock the forces of Scientology so that his features would remain timeless.

We jest, but then as a man whose face never seems to age, there is something poignant to the news that Tom Cruise is now tipped to appear in a reboot of the sci-fi classic as the near immortal Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, the exotically named character once played by Sean Connery - strangely, he still sounded Scottish but such was his acting chutzpah, he got away with it.

The Wrap reports that while no official talks have yet taken place, Summit Entertainment is keen to lock down Cruise before casting MacLeod, the titular warrior who spends centuries battling fellow barbarians for the power of ultimate immortality.

While still more than capable of being the main man action hero, a supporting role could be attractive to Cruise. With finishing touches to be made to Mission Impossible 5, a return to the gritty boots of Jack Reacher and a Top Gun sequel in the works, 2015 is already shaping up to be a busy year for Cruise.

And who knows, perhaps he might start to age like a regular human being.
