It's almost Oscar season, which means that the heavy hitters are queuing round the block. Next up: The Monuments Men.

Returned from floating around in space, George Clooney directs and takes lead in a band of art historians and museum curators with an unlikely mission - to save renowned works of art stolen by Nazis before they are lost. Think of it as a highbrow Indiana Jones via Ocean's Eleven.

With a cast including Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, Hugh Bonneville and Bob Balaban, The Monuments Men is trying its utmost to be a serious award contender. It's got war scenes and Clooney Charm - how can it fail?

The Monuments Men arrives in cinemas 9 January 2014
