James Cameron's Jurassic Park

jurassic park.jpg

After watching Jurassic Park for the fifteenth time, we pretty much decided that it could never be bettered. Spielberg's groundbreaking adventure showcased special effects like we'd never seen and made us question our previous desire to own a pet dinosaur.

But things were almost very different.

In an interview with The Huffington Post, James Cameron claims he was "a few hours" away from securing the rights to Michael Crichton's novel before Spielberg snapped them up.

Apparently, the Titanic director would have aimed for a much darker take.

"I'd have gone further, nastier, much nastier," he claims. "Mine would have been Aliens with dinosaurs."

But he thinks Spielberg was the right man for the job. Well, sort of.

"When I saw the film, I realised that I was not the right person to make the film, he was," he states. "Because he made a dinosaur movie for kids...Dinosaurs are for 8-year-olds. We can all enjoy it, too, but kids get dinosaurs and they should not have been excluded for that. His sensibility was right for that film."

What do you think? Would you liked to have seen Cameron's version.
