Iggy Pop to Play Serial Killer in Dario Argento Movie
10 October 2014

We've already got Jingle All The Way, Elf and Love Actually - but punk legend Iggy Pop believes that there's a movie missing from our Christmas list.

He's started an indiegogo project to fund a brand new film, set in Yuletide, directed by the legendary master of horror Dario Argento, in which he will play the lead role of the Sandman.

They're aiming to raise $250,000 (£156,000) towards the cost of shooting the movie, with a YouTube video posted to explain what they're attempting to do.

In it, Iggy says, "to make a Christmas movie with the master, with Dario Argento...that would be a dream come true...If I could play the Sandman for Dario, it would make my life complete. "

Meanwhile, Argento says, "I am tired of these Christmas movies showing goodness, beauty, snowflakes, sleds pulled by reindeer...I'd rather have a Christmas movie where there is also strength, violence, horror."

The premise of the film - not to be confused with a forthcoming adaptation of the Neil Gaiman graphic novel - is to follow the story of Nathan: "a young student in the city who struggles to forget his childhood trauma at the hands of the serial killer dubbed 'The Sandman'. Nathan killed the Sandman years ago, after he witnessed the murder of his mother...until he sees the beautiful woman who lives in the apartment across the way dying at the hands of that same masked killer."

Donations start at $5 (£3), going all the way up to $25,000 (£15,600), which gives you the chance to be an executive producer. Head on over to indiegogo.com to find out more and watch the video below.
