Who? Ronika

What’s the story? The Eighties continues to be the decade that just won't die and, in addition to being a constant source for inspiration for contemporary artists such as Shura, it's been given a further shot in the arm with the soundtrack of Netflix sensation Stranger Things. All of which set the scene perfectly for the return of Nottingham synthpopper Ronika, whose 2014 self-produced, self-released debut Selectadisc was a gem of a record. This new track continues in the same vein, with a huge synthy bassline, squelchy synths all over the place and a Madonna-style vocal, with classic summer pop lyrics thrown in for good measure. It's not all retro though, the stop-start dynamics call to mind AlunaGeorge's recent efforts. More soon please.
