Grab a pen, walk dramatically to your calendar to the sinister sound of John Williams’ Imperial March and scrawl a giant X over 12 December. In fact, best write off the whole week while you’re at it - Rogue One: A Star Wars story is headed our way and here’s a new trailer.

Released to mark tickets going on sale for the blockbuster, this latest teaser treats us a galactic eyeful of new footage as it sets the scene of the rebel alliance’s mission to steal plans to the Death Star, pitting Felicity Jones’ heroine against our old mate Darth Vader.

As well as having the galaxy’s most feared asthmatic to contend with, the rebels also find themselves hunted down by AT-AT Walkers on distant planets and chased by Stormtroopers across a series of stunning locale. And yes, at 1.11 that is a shot of the rebels running down the Jubilee line platform at Canary Wharf underground, making us feel a bit better about our own commutes it has to be said.

We will also get a new villain in Ben Mendelsohn's Orson Krennic, an ambitious Imperial Officer keen to show what his Stormtroopers can do. Who knows, he might have even fixed their permanently misfiring blasters this time around. Either way, it’ll be interested to see how the workplace relationship between Vader and Krennic develops (you just know Vader would be pissed if he saw his workmate rocking a ‘World’s Best Boss’ mug).

Be warned, cinemagoers who turn up late: the first of Disney’s planned ‘anthology’ spin-offs, Rogue One is reportedly the first in the saga not to have the famous opening text crawl. And by this point you really shouldn’t need a giant synopsis to know the future is a bit mad anyway.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is in cinemas from 12 December
