Food delivery services: these food, beer and wine providers are still serving
05 January 2021

With the world in lockdown (again), you might be finding it difficult to get the food you want without leaving the house. We know from experience that getting an online grocery shop right now is harder than a ticket to Glastonbury, before it was cancelled.

But there is another way. There’s a whole host of online delivery services that are still allowing new customers in.

The following are still taking orders from newbies and many have fantastic initial prices to take advantage of.

And we recommend looking to see what’s available in your local area, too. Folks like Crosstown Doughnuts and Ladies and Gentlemen are doing a brilliant job of serving Londoners sweet treats and cocktails. And The Craft Beer Hour has a brilliant list of local breweries that are delivering.

We’ve kept the following nationwide, so hopefully you can find something to treat yourself. And if you can’t, then head over to our extensive best recipe box and best beer delivery guides...

3. Tyga

£3.00
Check out Tyga

This is another recipe box but it has an Indian twist. Each recipe is a classic take on an Indian dish and, if we’re honest, all the recipes look fantastic. You do need to get the core ingredients, though - what Tyga does is send out the spice kits and the recipe cards. You can get a trial box for just £3.

Check out Craft Gin Club

Gin! On tap! Well, kind of. The Craft Gin Club is a box that costs around £70 (although there is £30 off your first box). In that box you get a full-size bottle of craft gin, paired mixers for delicious cocktails, snacks, and their 56-page club magazine. The great thing about this one is that you can choose to get it monthly, bi-monthly or every three months.

5. Beer52

£4.95
Check out Beer52

This is one of the biggest online beer sellers and while there is a slight delay on some deliveries, Beer52 still offers up their boxes of beers every month. This is actually one we use: each box comes with Ferment magazine (a great read), eight beers and a beer snack. There is always a promo for new customers but usual price is £24 for an eight pack of beer.

6. Balance Box

£22.00
Check out Balance Box

We tried out Balance Box last year and were happy with the service. It’s a meal box that’s designed for those who want to lose a bit of weight and eat healthy. This one can get pricey, though, as this service offers up all of your meals - so you are looking at paying around £22 a day. But it should mean you won’t have to shop while you are trying it.

7. 200 Degrees Coffee

£7.50
Visit the 200 Degrees shop

Coffee delivered straight to your door? We can’t think of anything better right now to be honest. 200 Degrees can’t currently guarantee next-day delivery but you should get your boxes pretty soon after you order them. There's a subscription service where you choose the type of bean and how coarse you want it - that’s £8 a bag. You can also choose how often you get a bag, too - once a week or every other week.

8. Lost and Grounded

£29.95
Visit the Lost and Grounded store

Lost and Grounded is a fantastic Bristol-based beer merchant that delivers nationwide. If you are in Bristol, though, you can go and pick up your boxes from them personally (keep your social distance, mind). If you want a 12 pack of the same beer, then it’s around £30 - a little more if you want a mixed case. Their beer is brilliant so well worth a try.

9. M&S Wine Shop

£Various
Check out M&S Wine Shop

Marks & Spencer’s recently opened its own wine shop! There is big demand at the moment, but it is offering a limited selection of wines. You can get red, white, sparkling and each wine is sold in a case of six. It’s around £50 a case right now. You can buy some single bottles but these seem to be restricted to champagne and whisky. It’s great to see M&S get in the booze delivery game!

10. Noble Fine Liquor

£Various
Check out Noble Fine Liquor

This one isn’t cheap but you do get a cracking selection of wines. Noble Fine Liquor is London-based but delivers nationwide and offers “authentic wines from the greatest small winemakers”. There’s a £10 flat rate delivery fee but if you manage to push your basket over £150 delivery is free. The quality on show in the online shop is really impressive.
