Answer: you've almost certainly got all of them somewhere at home.

Cast your mind back to September 2013. The 17th, to be exact. It was a Wednesday. It was probably drizzling in the UK.

Rockstar Games brightened everyone's day by releasing Grand Theft Auto V - the zenith of its guns'n'cars crime series that broke video game launch records for fun.

Well, the publisher has now revealed just how popular its title is: Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick announced in a call to analysts that its title has sold 65 million units to date.

That makes it the fourth best-selling video game of all time:

  • Tetris (all versions released since 1984) - 495 million
  • Wii Sports (released 2006) - 82 million
  • Minecraft (released 2009) - 73 million
  • Grand Theft Auto V (released 2013) - 65 million

In the last year alone, the game has sold 13 million copies - helped in part by finally arriving on PCs in April 2015. It's seen Rockstar and Take-Two pull in something in the region of $3 billion.

"So what have they been doing since then?!" you might very well scream at your screen. Well we'll find out soon: in Take-Two's recent fiscal report, they had this to say about Rockstar Games...

Rockstar Games also is hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon

We're not betting types, but if we were, we'd put heaps of money on one of those projects being Red Dead Redemption 2. As for whether it'll be unveiled at next month's E3 games conference is yet to be seen - but it would make sense, right?
