The Star Wars tablet game you've been looking for

We lied. There's a very good Star Wars game already on tablets: the improbable port of BioWare's vast Knights of the Old Republic console classic. It costs about £8 and deserves to be on your iPad or Android device.

But that's it - despite the wealth of characters and a literal universe of stories to dip into, there's an abundant lack of good Star Wars games to tap through your daily commute. Which explains why we're excited by the prospect of Star Wars: Uprising.

Described as an "isometric dungeon crawler" (game-talk for a top-down adventure that sees you click-to-slash your foes), Uprising will bridge the action between the conclusion of Return of the Jedi and December's The Force Awakens

Players can build their own character from a variety of races and class types, equipping them with blasters, swords, lightsabres and force skills in their mission to eradicate the crumbling Empire. Partnering with friends online will let you take on quests in co-op mode, exploring new planets and finding new gear for your characters.

Set for a release in September, you can find out more about Uprising here.

For now, you'll just have to get your Star Wars kicks with Knights of the Old Republic. Okay - or that silly Angry Birds cash-in.
