The Incredibly Detailed Zelda Map

Zelda fans, contain yourselves.

A superfan, Minneapolis' Alex Griendling, has helped design an incredible accurate fully-detailed map, etched on wood, of Hyrule, the magical kingdom where The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time is set.

The finished product, made in association with Neutral Ground, based in New Orleans, displays completely faithful cartography, garnered from playing all the latest versions of the game, and the correct form of Hylian (Hyrule's language). He says that the project is "a salute to those who love exploring in fiction and being immersed in the artwork that defines those worlds."

Excitingly, this is billed as the first in a series, so we can expect more beautiful maps to emerge soon. An extremely limited batch of 10, made on hand-selected wood measuring 24" by 18", are currently on sale for $195 (£115) at the Neutral Ground shop and if/when these sell out, apparently a Kickstarter campaign will be launched to fulfil more orders.

Take a look at the pics below, along with a short video of the work in progress, and check out more of Alex's work on his website.
