The Future According To Video Games
30 January 2015

If our console-shaped crystal ball is anything to go by, we've got about two years until aliens invade, ten years before all the Earth's wars are fought by private organisations and 120 years until our experiments with teleportation opens up a gateway to hell.

But it's not all bad - in less than a decade we'll be cruising around cities on gravity-defying rollerblades.

These are the sort of events you can expect were you take the ill-advised step of using the story lines of video games as a map of our future. It's an idea at the heart of this brilliant timeline by video game fan Norbert Demeter

From those that stray close to the truth (the tech in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is actually being made) to those that are just having fun (we're looking at you, Doom), we're keeping our fingers crossed that none of these plots become a reality in our life time.

Unless it's Angry Birds. That would make for an interesting spectacle.
