As the old saying goes, you wait weeks for some PlayStation news to come along and then three buses turn up at once. That's right isn't it?
Sony have been shedding some PlayStation nuggets at today's Sony Computer Entertainment Japan press conference.
The most interesting revelation came in the slim-lined shape of the PS Vita TV - a tiny set top box that will allow gamers to play their Vita, PSP and PS1 libraries over their TV via up to two DualShock controllers. The reveal also detailed that the sleek 10.5cm by 6.5cm block will offer a host of Apple TV-esque features: video services, including Hulu, will allow PS Vita TV owners to stream media, while Vita apps will run on the device. It will also support remote play, so PlayStation 4 owners can access their console on a separate TV if their console is in another occupied room. In all, it's a nifty looking device that should cost in the region of £100 (though no European release date has been confirmed).
A new slimmer PS Vita was also revealed, arriving in Japan in October to do battle with the Nintendo 2DS for children's Christmas attentions. Available in six colours (black, white, lime green, light blue, pink and... khaki), the thinner, lighter model now sports six hours of battery life and a micro USB slot.
Somewhat less fanfare surrounded news that Japanese customers will have to wait until February for the PlayStation 4 - several months later than the November releases of Europe and the USA. A Japanese exclusive will be available though, bundling the PS4 Eye camera with the console, and all PS4 owners will receive a free copy of quirky action game Knack.
All this PlayStation talk has got us itching to hammer away at triangles and crosses. Bring on 29 November!
