Well that didn't take long.

Mere weeks after Niantic broke every app record going with the release of Pokémon GO, a player has already maxed out the augmented reality experience.

What's the maximum level?

What's the maximum level?

Think you're a big dog at level 16? Sorry mate - the maximum level is a long way off at 40.

How do you get to level 40?!

How do you get to level 40?!

In short, by acquiring some 20 million experience points.

The leap between Level 39 and Level 40 is a massive five million experience points alone. That's like... so many Ratatas.

Who managed it?

Redditor _problemz is behind this incredible achievement, but he's happy to admit he had to cheat to get there.

_problemz used a bot to do all the walking, catching and levelling, earning some 280,000XP per hour.

CommentI just hit Level 40 - World first! ;)

Can I buy the account?!

Can I buy the account?!

No. _problemz doesn't want to remove any of the fun and joy from the game, and has requested that Niantic deletes the account. This was just to prove that 40 was the maximum level.

Now, if you need us, we'll be cracking lucky eggs and chasing Drowzees for the rest of the day...
