Nokia's Snake is back

Nokia's Snake is back

Nokia's Snake is back
02 September 2014

Forget your detailed graphics, complex AI and expansive level designs - few games have offered a sterner challenge than the Nokia classic, Snake.

Those of you who managed to fill the screens of your 3210 with black pixels will know the rare joy that accompanies the completion of the original title - and soon you'll be able to do it all over again.

Taneli Armanto, the father of Nokia's Snake, has partnered with Finnish indie mobile studio Rumilus Design to create Snake Rewind, a modern touch-screen version of the limbless puzzle.

Details on the title are scant, with a single video (shown below) demonstrating the somewhat sleepy Snake game in action. Players will controller the snake by tapping their touch screens rather than hammering away on a long-forgotten number pad, with a rewind option apparently allowing you to undo fateful turns.

Set to arrive on iOS later this year, here's hoping we don't throw our iPads across the room in frustration - they're somewhat more fragile than our faithful Nokia.
